2 April 1998: Standard & Poor“s recently posted its list of top 500 companies. Included in the chemicals sector list was the US firm Praxair at the top, DuPont, which came in seventh place, and the ninth-ranked Monsanto. In the Containers and Packaging sector, Owens-Illinois was listed at the top, while Avery Dennison was just behind Owens-Illinois, but well behind in the overall rankings. PPG Industries and Owens Corning were listed in the Housing and Real Estate sector, where PPG came in fourth, and Owens Corning eighth.
