US thin film coating manufacturer Southwall Technologies Inc. reported a net loss for the fourth quarter ended 31 December 2000 of US$ 1.3 million on sales of US$ 20.95 million. In the same quarter the year before, Southwall reported a similar loss of US$ 1.29 million on sales of US$ 15.14 million. For the year ended 31 December 2000 net losses were US$ 6.18 million on revenues of US$ 85.35 million, versus a net loss in 1999 of US$ 1.87 million on revenues of US$ 54.6 million. Southwall said its results for the latest fourth quarter include a loss of US$ 1 million from its German unit, which reported an operating loss of US$ 2.75 million for the year. The company“s 2000 operating income, excluding the German unit and the nonrecurring costs, was US$ 921,000, compared with an operating loss of US$ 220,000 in 1999.
