22 January 1998: The Society of Glass and Ceramic Decorators (SGCD) recently announced they will be hosting an “insider” tour which will feature a comprehensive tour of glass and ceramic manufacturing/decorating plants and industry supplier operations in the heart of the English ceramic industry, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Stoke-on-Trent is known as being the birthplace and focal point of ceramic manufacturing in the UK, where it is also the home to more ceramic manufacturers and decorators than any other town in the world. Tentative tours are planned for decorating plants including Wedgwood, Royal Doulton and others in addition to industry suppliers including Service Engineers, Cookson Matthey and Malkin. Tourgoers will also attend briefings by British decorating experts on industry trends and developments. Plant tours are scheduled for 18-22 May, and a travel package from 16-24 May, 1998.
