Sisecam is reported to have opened its glass package plant in Bursa, and the first furnace of the plant has become operational. According to Teoman Yenigun, package group head of Sisecam, the company has invested USD 45 million for the furnace with a production capacity of 120,000 tonnes. The investments would amount to USD 370 million by the end of 2008, he continued. According to Yenigun, Sisecam“s capacity has reached 600,000 tonnes/year in Turkey, reaching 1.5 million tonnes with the plants in Russia. Anadolu Cam meets 80% of the demand for glass packaging in Turkey, and 4% in overall production in Europe.
