SGD Group, world leading manufacturer of high-end glass containers, has announced the launch of www.verreinfini.com, a website entirely dedicated to “Infinite Glass“, the world“s first 100% recycled and recyclable glass specifically designed for the perfume and cosmetics industry. Developed over an 18-month period, “Infinite Glass“ is SGD Group“s response to new environmental standards and the growing interest of professionals in the beauty sector and end users for organic and environmentally friendly product ranges. The new website www.verreinfini.com, which is aimed at individuals and businesses, enables visitors to discover this new ecological approach by means of educational and interactive 3D animations. Visitors can visualize the entire life cycle of an “Infinite Glass“ flask or container from its beginnings in a recycling unit, to the manufacturing process and the re-recycling of the container after use. The website also includes an interactive application, where visitors can design and conceive their own “Infinite Glass“ container, with a large choice of shapes and colours. They will also be able to discover news stories concerning the “Infinite Glass“, which will become the future benchmark for all ecologically friendly cosmetic and perfume products. The logo “Infinite Glass“ will be carved on all 100% recycled and recyclable glass containers which will be manufactured from September 2010. At the time of the site“s launch, SGD Group is teaming up with organic cosmetics brand Kibio to organize a design competition, the “Young Talents 2010 Competition – Create your eco-packaging“. Through this competition, SGD Group and Kibio wished to involve a larger audience in their environmentally friendly initiative. Created by SGD Group in 2009, after 18 months of research, “Infinite Glass“ is the first 100% recycled and recyclable glass worldwide aimed at the perfume and cosmetics sector. It constitutes a genuine call to beauty specialists to promote environmental responsibility. Exclusively made up of clear household cullet, “Infinite Glass“ has a smaller ecological impact than classic glass – made up of 30% of recycled glass and 70% of raw material. Its manufacturing process enables a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, in consumption of raw material and in energy, with an ecological impact thus reduced to its strictest minimum. For every thousand flasks weighing 200g made of “Infinite Glass“, 100kg of sand and 200kg of recycled glassares saved, 20kg of CO2 emissions are avoided and there is a 15% reduction in the consumption of electricity. French SGD Group, former Saint-Gobain-Desjonqures, produces more than three billion high-end glass containers for the perfume and pharmaceutical industries glass containers per year and recorded revenues of EUR 631 million in 2008. SGD employs 6,000 people worldwide, half of which are located in France, and supplies a wide range of tailored services for the most famous brand names of high-end and mass markets. In 2009, SGD relaunched baby glass bottles in France and created the first 100% recycled and recyclable glass container in the world.
