Glaceries de Saint-Roch, the fully-owned Belgian subsidiary of French glass group Saint-Gobain, has announced a turnover figure of BFr 18.6 billion for 1995, compared with BFr 18.9 billion a year earlier. The figure includes those for the two Benelux processing companies acquired at the start of 1995, namely Frankenglas of Weert (Netherlands) and Mirover of Menen (Belgium), as well as those of the two companies acquired by the UK subsidiary Solaglas, Thermax Ltd. and Hayes Ltd.. Saint-Roch said turnover had remained stable despite the strong depreciation of the major export currencies and the negative impact of sterling on the UK subsidiaries“ turnover. It added that sales of processed products had continued to develop and had significantly increased their market share. The Belgian and Dutch processing and sales subsidiaries had lifted turnover by 10% with net results generally positive and higher. The UK subsidiaries had also posted improved net profits, the group added. Saint-Roch“s non-consolidated turnover was stable at BFr 5.4 billion, while non-consolidated net profits totalled BFr 348 million. At the end of 1995 it employed 2,300 in the Benelux countries and 2,400 in the UK.
