Employees at the Saint-Gobain glass packaging factory at Vauxrot (Aisne, northern France) staged a 24-hour strike on 9 October 2006 as part of protests against a planned restructuring that will involve 118 job cuts. Nearly 200 indirect jobs could also be affected, according to union CGT. A meeting of the works council has been scheduled for 19 October 2006.
