Saint-Gobain Oberland certified according to DIN ISO 50001

Saint-Gobain Oberland has received certification according to the energy management standard DIN EN ISO 50001: 2011. “The auditing in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 is an important step on our path of continuous improvement in energy management,” says Roland Unfried, Chief Technology Officer.

Container glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain Oberland has once again proven its sustainability and the responsible utilization of all resources with the certification according to the energy management standard DIN EN ISO 50001: 2011. The result of the audit, as well as the associated awarding of the certificate, proves that the company deals with energy sensibly and consciously.
As a responsible company that trades and operates on an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable basis in all areas, Saint-Gobain Oberland continually looks for improvement possibilities in order to live up to its requirements and objectives, and at the same time to promote the production of glass packaging. “The auditing in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 is an important step on our path of continuous improvement in energy management,” says Roland Unfried, Chief Technology Officer, in describing this certificate.
The company provides an important contribution towards environmental and climate protection through professional energy management, for instance through the long-term reduction of CO2 emissions.
The certification is valid for the entire company and therefore includes all four locations in Germany (Bad Wurzach, Neuburg, Essen and Wirges). So-called “energy teams” – which organizationally support consistent energy management in the company, and thereby exploit unused energy efficiency potentials and implement target-oriented measures – were already formed in all plants beforehand.
“The TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH auditors were very pleased with the Saint-Gobain Oberland projects for energy management as well as the economically sensible and thereby efficient use of energy, and certified the effectiveness of the energy management system”, says Simone Spielmann, the specialist responsible for energy and environment at Saint-Gobain Oberland, in explaining the audit. As a result, it was certified that the topic of sustainability and energy are important aspects of corporate management in the company.
