5 February 1998: The takeover of VOA-Verrerie d“Albi by Saint-Gobain, which began in September (see GlassOnline 9 October 1997) has been finalised, for a sum of around FFr 220 million. The bottle factory will become a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain Emballage, which had already owned 10%, while the 90% majority stake was held by Consortium de Realisation (CDR), the body set up to sell Credit Lyonnais assets. VOA was previously ranked third behind Saint-Gobain in the market for wine and spirits bottles.
