18 March 1999: German porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal AG (Selb) has returned to the black after tough rationalization, a recent press report has said. Group net profits reached DM 3.1 million in 1998 compared with a loss of DM 18.3 million in 1997. Rosenthal is majority-owned by the Irish Waterford-Wedgwood group. Turnover rose by 4.3% to DM 316.3 million, of which DM 183 million (-0.4%) originated in Germany and DM 133 million (+11.5%) abroad.
