10 September 1998: Praxair India Pvt Ltd., the local subsidiary of Praxair Inc of the United States, said it had entered into an agreement with Saint-Gobain Glass India to supply nitrogen and hydrogen gas. Praxair India is expected to install an air separation plant for the supply of both gases. “Under the terms of the agreement, Praxair will supply 2,000 normal cubic metres per hour of high purity nitrogen and 160 normal cubic metres per hour of hydrogen for Saint-Gobain“s float glass unit,” Praxair said in a statement. The two firms reportedly signed the agreement recently in the southern city of Madras. “Worldwide, Saint-Gobain is a customer of Praxair with our gases being supplied to them in the US and to several countries in South America and Europe,” said Indrajit Mookerjee, Praxair India“s managing director. The plant will produce 110 tonnes per day of liquid nitrogen and oxygen for the merchant market, the statement said. The air separation and hydrogen plants will be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 1999, it said.
