The US group PPG Industries is reported to be investing US$ 100 million in the construction of a paints and resins plant in Brazil. This will be located in Taubate, Vale do Paraiba (Sao Paulo). The new plant will be the group“s second in South America. PPG already has a glass and glass fibre production unit in Venezuela. The vice-president of the group“s paints and resins division, E.Kears Pollock, said the construction of a new plant in Brazil was a strategic decision for the group. It was vital, he said, given the growth prospects of the Brazilian economy. The new unit will have 200 employees and annual turnover will be around US$ 100 million according to the PPG official.
