PPG Industries’ new 80,000-square-foot plant in Ontario, Canada, will begin operations in January 2012, providing 20 full-time jobs in glass cutting, fabrication of insulating glass units, and distribution. The new site has been set up to replace a PPG facility near Toronto, where PPG has operated for 60 years.
“The Barrie plant will provide better access to our customers and enable us to operate more efficiently,” said Frank Caporiccio, general manager for PPG’s flat glass trade products in Canada.
PPG operates similar Canadian glass plants in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Calgary, Alberta, as well as a warehouse facility in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
