A PPG Industries Inc. fiberglass plant has received a notice of violation for non-compliant air emissions tests from the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the company said on 16 February 2006. The Pittsburgh-based supplier of coatings, glass, fiberglass and chemicals said in its annual report filed with the SEC that its Shelby, North Carolina, fiberglass plant also received a notice of intent to issue a another notice of violation from the same agency. PPG said both notices relate to non-compliant stack air emissions tests that were carried out in 2005 in accordance with the Clean Air Act. The company said such issues “often can be resolved with penalty amounts below USD 100,000,” but warned that it could not predict the amount of any potential civil penalty.
