The Poltava medical glass factory (PMGF), which specializes in the production of medicinal ampoules and vials, increased production by 21.7% or UAH 2.15 million to UAH 12.045 million in April-June compared with the second quarter of 2001. This was reported by Nadezhda Sidorenko, the head of the department of economic research at the factory. Sidorenko attributes output increase to acquisition of two ampoule lines produced by Italian OCMI and French Modern Mehanic. PMGF intends to supply its products to new markets in Russia, Romania, and India. The factory presently exports about 20% of its products to Kazakhstan, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Georgia, Armenia, and Belarus. It sells the remainder of its products to Ukrainian pharmaceutical plants, mainly the Darnitsa and Farmak pharmaceutical plants. The factory produced 1 billion ampoules worth UAH 43.8 million in 2001, an increase of 50% compared with 2000. The factory ended the year 2001 with UAH 8.185 million in net profits.
