Leading Polish crystal maker Irena SA in Inowroclaw, central Poland, has said it plans to buy 265,709 shares in crystal glass manufacturer Huta Szkla Krysztalowego Violetta SA (Violetta) based in Stronie Slaskie, southern Poland. Irena is Poland“s largest crystal glassmaker with 40% of the domestic market Under the preliminary contract signed on 16 April 2003, Irena will purchase the shares from local meat processing company Rolmex at 26.5 PLN (USD 6.8/EUR 6.2) each. The planned deal will need the approval of the antimonopoly authority Urzad Ochrony Konkurencji i Konsumentow (UOKiK). Irena shares closed at PLN 10.5 (USD 2.7/EUR 2.5) on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on 17 April 2003, up 2.94 % from the previous close.
