Pittsburgh Glass Works LLC (PGW) has announced that it will establish a new manufacturing facility in North Carolina for the production of automotive glass products for original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket organizations within the automotive industry. The new plant will employ more than 260, and hiring is expected to begin in 2012. The company said the decision to add the plant was due to continued surging demand for automotive glass parts. Infrastructure improvements to an existing 85-acre site, to be converted to a 416,000-sq.-ft. facility with a planned investment of more than USD 85 million, are already underway. The Elkin facility will be a state of the art operation that enhances our current customer delivery, increases our manufacturing capacity and provides flexibility within our manufacturing operations, PGW Chairman and CEO James D. Wiggins said.
