Pilkington Glass, based at St. Helens in north-west England, has linked up with scientists at nearby Liverpool and Manchester Metropolitan Universities to enhance its range of energy-efficient glazing products, such as glass coatings that help reduce heat loss from buildings and vehicles. Dr Janet O“Brien-O“Reilly, of Pilkington Technology Centre, said the link-up enabled them to conduct research away from the pressures of industry and “to keep abreast of new equipment which we don“t have”.
