In response to flat glass price increases, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope announced a price increase of its own. In a 31 May 2011 letter to customers, the company declared that it had received notice from flat glass manufacturers that pricing on all glass products will increase 8-10%, effective 23 June 2011. The increase announcements from glass manufacturers cite increasing raw material and operating costs, in addition to continued challenging economic conditions despite aggressive cost-control measures. In response to this increase, and to cost increases in many other areas of the business, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope will increase selling prices effective 23 June 2011. Clear float products, including patterned glass, will be raised 10%. All tinted and coated products will be raised 8%, and all fabrication charges (holes, edgework, etc.) will go up by 10%.
