The most complex curved glass at OPPO Shenzhen Bay Headquarters: 4.3 by 2.3 metre double-laminated insulating glass, located at the architectural “centre stage,” the top section featuring complex multi-curved geometry.
Here, the glass must not only withstand demanding wind loads and structural requirements, but also meet the challenges of ultra-large dimensions, complex curvature, and exceptional optical quality.
Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the OPPO Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters features: four interconnected towers, flowing curved forms, and a futuristic architectural vision.
However, this visionary design also pushes curtain wall engineering to its limits. Among the project’s 70,000 square metres of glass, approximately 40,000 square metres consists of curved glass, with a minimum bending radius of only 1 metre and a maximum single-piece arc length of 6 metres.
To achieve the “impossible curves” envisioned by Zaha Hadid’s design, NorthGlass developed its proprietary multi-point gradient and one-time forming tempering technology, combined with the latest air nozzle system and advanced multi-curved glass tempering processes.
Through systematic optimisation of glass heating uniformity, curvature accuracy and optical performance, NorthGlass has transformed a seemingly “impossible” piece of glass from a design concept into a real architectural element.
