The Moldovan region of Transdniestria cut the offer price for its indebted glass packaging producer Tirsteklo by 18.5% to USD 450,025 (EUR 339,100) on 6 December 2006 in a bid to attract buyers. The region“s economy ministry said in a statement that no bids were placed at the higher price in the previous tender. The next auction was scheduled for 12 December 2006. Transdniestria also asked potential buyers to invest USD 1.74 million in Tirsteklo by 2011. The company has an outstanding debt of USD 402,600. Transdniestria said earlier it planned to earn USD 39.6 million from privatisations in 2007 and 2008, despite numerous warnings from the Moldovan authorities that the sales are illegal without their approval.
