25 June 1998: Miskolci Epiteszeti Kft, the operator of Hungary“s Miskolc glass factory, has reportedly declared bankruptcy. According to recent press reports, the company“s CEO, Laszlo Simon, said that he hoped for an agreement with the creditors, and that he also hopes for the appearance of an investor who would help them to carry out the investments necessary for survival. The firm“s sales revenues were Ft 67 million in the first half of 1997. The figure increased to Ft 251 million in the second half, due to some management moves. In the first five months of 1998, the figure totalled Ft 228 million. Miskolci Epiteszeti Kft was reportedly granted a Ft 50 million unrepayable loan and a further Ft 50 million interest-free loan by the Borsod county development council a year and a half ago.
