19 March 1998: Japan“s Marubeni, Fujisash and the German general engineering company Pilkington Solar International (PSI) announced recently that they had signed an agreement to develop a solar power system sized for industrial-use supply of electricity. They are expected to begin importing, selling and installing PSI“s highly efficient solar panels this month. The solar panels are for attachment to the sides of a building and in other locations in an industrial site. This is the first case of international sale of an industrial-size solar power system. They estimate sales of 10 billion yen in the year 2000 and intend to begin production inside Japan.
