Libbey plant workers approve new three-year deal

Workers at Libbey’s plant in Shreveport, La. have approved a new three-year deal, which covers about 450 employees, applies until 16 December 2017 and includes a wage increase.

After voting down four separate contract proposals, union workers at Libbey Inc.’s Shreveport, La., plant have approved a new three-year deal.
Libbey officials did not have the final vote count, but confirmed the United Steelworkers had approved the deal on Thursday.
The contract covers about 450 employees and applies until 16 December 2017.
“We’re pleased that we’ve reached an agreement,” a Libbey spokesperson said, declining to provide details of the contract, but saying it did include a wage increase.
Shreveport is one of two US plants for Libbey and one of three in North America. Libbey also has plants in Toledo and Monterrey, Mexico.
