Libbey nominates Eileen Mallesch for election to board of directors

Libbey Inc. has announced that its board of directors has nominated Eileen Mallesch for election to the board at its upcoming Annual Meeting of shareholders.

Ms. Mallesch is a certified public accountant with more than 30 years of experience in corporate strategy, accounting, enterprise risk management and financial management.  Her prior experience includes leadership positions at divisions of Nationwide and General Electric and as chief financial officer of Genworth Financial.  She currently sits on the boards of both State Auto Financial and Bob Evans Farms.
Ms. Mallesch’s seat on the board would replace independent Director Peter C. McC. Howell, who plans to retire this year and will thus not be seeking re-election to the board of directors. Mr. Howell has served as a director of the Company since 1993.
“We would like to thank Peter for his dedicated service to Libbey for the past 23 years and wish him well in his retirement,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer William Foley.  “We are also very pleased to welcome Eileen to Libbey and encourage all of our shareholders to vote in favor of her nomination. She brings excellent financial acumen and enterprise risk management expertise and has significant public company and corporate governance experience in a variety of industries, including both industrial and consumer businesses. Combined with her international business experience, we believe Eileen represents an excellent complement to our board’s diverse background and skill set, and we look forward to her contributions.”
Eileen Mallesch has served on the boards of directors of State Auto Financial Corp. since 2010 and Bob Evans Farms, Inc. since 2008. She was previously senior vice president and chief financial officer of the property and casualty insurance business of Nationwide Insurance from 2005 to 2009. Prior to joining Nationwide, she served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Genworth Financial Life Insurance Company from 2003 to 2005; vice president and chief financial officer of GE Financial Employer Services Group from 2000 to 2003; and controller for GE Americom from 1998 to 2000. Ms. Mallesch’s positions before 2000 included international business area controller, energy ventures for Asea Brown Boveri, Inc., a multinational power and automation technologies company, and financial management positions with PepsiCo, Inc. Ms. Mallesch is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from City University of New York. She began her career as a senior auditor with Arthur Andersen.
