The world“s largest colour picture tube manufacturer – IRICO – has announced that it is set to commence operations at its new LCD glass substrate production line. The Chinese company has built the country“s first Gen 6 production line at the Flat Panel Display Industrial Park in Hefei. IRICO has fired up its first furnace in the aim of making its mark on the LCD panel sector, which has, until now, been monopolized by foreign countries. The firm is expected to establish six production lines by June 2011, with a total capacity of 2.38 million pieces, and is reportedly investing CNY 10 billion in LCD glass substrate programmes.
