The ECI (Engineering Conference International) conference, which will discuss Functional Glasses: Properties and Applications for Energy & Information, and take place 6-11 January 2013 in Siracusa, Sicily, will discuss recent advances in glass research as well as identify the requirements that glass must satisfy for new and emerging applications. It will focus especially on energy and information technologies in which glass is expected to have a large impact in the near future.
The Conference will aim to establish dialogue between leading glass users and active glass researchers, together with the glass manufacturers who often serve as the interface between these two communities, through a series of invited talks, panel discussions, breakout sessions & poster sessions.
The Technical Programme Overview of the conference is as follows:
Applications of Glass in Energy Technology: Lighting, Photovoltaics, Coatings; Applications of Glass in Information Technology: Displays, Thin Roll-to-Roll Glass, Optical MEMS; Glass Properties for Energy Applications: Optical Response, Electrical (ionic/proton/mixed) Conductivity, Dielectrics, Glass Strength, Chemical Strengthening, Surface Mechanochemistry; Battery Technologies: Li-Battery Technology, Superionic Conducting Glass & Glass-Ceramics, Li-Air and Li-Water Battery; Glass Properties for Information Applications: Laser-Glass Interaction, Plasmonics, Glass for Non-linear Optics, Nanophotonics, Integrated Optics, Microstructured/Novel Optical Fibers, Glass for Info.
