The global headquarters of leading developer and producer of high-quality optical lenses and eyeglasses, Hoya Vision Care, which employs almost 5,000 people in Thailand (50% of its global workforce) has moved to Bangkok as of 1 October 2009. The global Quality function and part of the R&D function will also be moved from Japan to Thailand. The move, which Hoya says will benefit all customers, is aimed at enabling Hoya to respond more quickly to changes in the global market place by concentrating these resources. Hoya Vision Care aims at having its global headquarters close to its five production facilities near Bangkok so as to speed up decision making processes, and also expects to obtain synergy with production leading to state-of-the-art solutions for its customers worldwide. Moreover, the move to Thailand will provide the additional benefit for Hoya to receive researching incentives from the Thai Government. Hoya Vision Care Europe, Hoya Holdings NV, and Hoya Lens Netherlands will maintain office and staff in Uithoorn, the Netherlands.
