US float glass manufacturer Guardian Industries Corp., is considering building a USD 150 million plant in the Yaroslavl region (north central European Russia), regional Governor Anatoly Lisitsyn said after talks on 7 September 2004 with management representatives from the company“s European branch. Lisitsyn said Guardian Industries is interested in the Russian market and is looking to expand production in the country. The company wanted to learn about the availability of infrastructure including transportation, electricity and water at a 24-hectare potential site, Lisitsyn added. Building work will take 15 months if the project goes ahead. The plant would employ approximately 1,000 workers.
