GTS announces new leadership and 2030 Growth Strategy

Glass Technology Services (GTS) has announced a new leadership team and the launch of its GTS 2030 Strategy, setting out its vision for supporting the glass industry through a period of rapid technological and market change.

Based in Sheffield, UK, GTS has appointed Gareth Jones as Chief Executive Officer and Daniel Capon as Technical Director, bringing together more than 40 years of experience within the organisation.

Having spent the past 14 years at GTS in commercial and operational leadership roles, Jones takes over as CEO with a strong focus on growth, customer partnerships and innovation. Before joining GTS, he held senior commercial positions across the manufacturing and professional services sectors.

Capon, who has been with GTS for 27 years, is widely recognised for his expertise in glass testing and analysis. His experience spans a broad range of technical disciplines, including XRF and SEM analysis, and he continues to contribute to industry standards and technical development through a number of specialist committees and working groups.

The appointments coincide with the launch of the organisation’s GTS 2030 Strategy, a long-term plan built around five key priorities:

Growth: developing new markets, customers and opportunities

Innovation: continuing to push the boundaries of glass technology

Customer Value: strengthening GTS’s role as a trusted technical partner backed by world-class expertise and accredited testing facilities

People: investing in knowledge, skills and professional development across the business

Sustainable Performance: ensuring long-term resilience and the ability to invest in future growth

Commenting on the new strategy, Jones said, “Our mission is simple: to support the global glass industry and supply chain as the independent experts in glass testing and innovation.

“GTS has built an outstanding reputation through its technical expertise, independence and commitment to helping customers solve problems and develop new opportunities. The GTS 2030 Strategy is about building on those strengths while preparing for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

“The industry is evolving rapidly. Decarbonisation, new energy technologies, advanced materials and digitalisation are reshaping the landscape, creating exciting opportunities for innovation. We want GTS to be at the forefront of supporting that change.”

Jones added that people remain at the heart of the strategy. “The expertise, curiosity and commitment of our colleagues have always been central to GTS’s success. By continuing to invest in our people and working closely with customers across the supply chain, we can help shape the future of glass technology together.”

As the organisation looks towards 2030, its focus remains on combining independent technical expertise with practical industry support, helping glass manufacturers and supply chain partners develop innovative products, improve performance and navigate an increasingly complex market.
