Glaverbel has not yet made the final decision on where it will build its new flat glass plant for the automotive industry. “The decision could be made soon, maybe in July”, said Glaverbel Czech spokesman Petr Maxa on 30 May 2006. Usti Regional Office in the Czech Republic has approved the plan to build a new glass works in Teplice-Retenice, which is one of the localities under consideration in Central and Eastern Europe, according to the Czech Environmental Office. According to the documentation, which the company has presented for environmental impact assessment, Glaverbel plans to produce 180,000 tonnes of sheet glass from 255,000 tonnes of melted parison. The company intends to invest approximately EUR 100 million (approximately CZK 2.8 billion) and start building work on the 45,000 square meter plant in October 2006 for completion by November 2007. The plant will employ 71 in a three-shift system. Gleverbel Czech is the largest flat glass manufacturer in Central and Eastern Europe. Glaverbel is part of the company Asahi Glass, the world“s largest glass producer.
