Glaverbel Czech has presented its project to build a new auto glass plant in Teplice-Retenice to the Usti regional council for Environmental Impact Assesment (EIA). “Teplice is still one of the localities being considered, as a location, where we would like to build the new glass factory in the region of Central and Eastern Europe,” Glaverbel Czech spokesperson Petr Maxa said 7 April 2006. According to the documentation presented for the EIA, Glaverbel aims to produce 180,000 tonnes of flat glass a year at the plant. Construction work would begin in October 2006 and finish in November 2007. The facility would cover an area of 45,000 sqare meters and employ 71 in a three-shift system. According to previous information, the company wants to invest approximately CZK 2.8 billion (EUR 100 million) in the building of the plant. Gleverbel Czech is the largest flat glass manufacturer in Central and Eastern Europe. Glaverbel is part of the company Asahi Glass, the world“s largest glass producer.
