Gentex Corporation, the US supplier of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors to the worldwide automotive industry, has been named a General Motors (GM) Supplier of the Year. The award was presented this past weekend at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., US. Gentex is a five-time recipient of the prestigious award, which recognizes companys“ superior performance, quality, service, technology and pricing. Gentex supplies GM with mirrors, which automatically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become, making nighttime driving safer. “This is a special honour, because the products we provide to General Motors are becoming more and more complex,” said Gentex executive vice president Kenneth La Grand. “Our mirrors are really reflective electronic modules containing LED map lamps, compass and temperature displays – even the interface for the OnStar(R) telematics system. It“s exciting to know that despite the increase in the complexity of our products, we“ve been able to maintain our quality and performance.”
