Germany“s Saint-Gobain Oberland AG, part of France“s Saint-Gobain Group, has sold its Futronic GmbH subsidiary to Jetter AG in Ludwigsburg as of 1 January 2006. The contract was signed 29 December 2005. Futronic is a manufacturer of electronic control systems, which are mainly used in the glass industry, although the firm has also made a name for itself in other industrial sectors. In 2004, Futronic registered an operating result of EUR 1.5 million on sales of EUR 6.3 million. Owned by Saint-Gobain Oberland AG from 1986 to the end of 2005, the controls company was sold because its activities are now outside Saint-Gobain Oberland“s core competencies. As a result of the sale, Saint-Gobain Oberland will concentrate on its main area of business, namely the manufacturing and marketing of glass containers for the food industry. Futronic“s products will supplement the range of applications of Jetter controls, which are marketed via machines by Emhart Glass, the world market leader for glass container production plants. Publicly-quoted Jetter AG, which has been operating in automation technology for 25 years, generated sales of around EUR 23 million in the 2004/05 financial year. Control solutions from Jetter are to be found in use in the most varied areas of mechanical engineering and plant construction.
