Krosno Glass S.A., one of Poland’s premiere makers of exclusive glassware has once again chosen Forglass to perform upgrades on one of its main furnaces. The works, planned for November 2020, will include partial replacement of refractories, heat-up, fill-up and hot sealing.
Making extensive use of computer modelling, Forglass has also prepared the design of a new forehearth that the Client requested for a future upgrade. Krosno’s high-end glassware products require delivery of molten glass with very strict parameters, not only for chemical composition but also extreme uniformity of temperature. To achieve this uniformity, Forglass designed the forehearth with two rows of burners, with the upper row capable of both heating and cooling functions (by delivering pure air).
Additionally, the forehearth will feature ceramic stirrers positioned strategically along the path of glass flow. All of the functions of this atypical forehearth are controlled automatically by customised software, also designed by Forglass.
The main reasons Krosno chose Forglass for this project are the company’s technological expertise, the extremely positive experience of cooperation during previous rebuilding projects and the quality of workmanship that Forglass prides itself on.
The cooperation of these companies clearly shows the willingness of constantly improving the glass forming process and searching for new technological solutions.
