Industrie Fonderie Valdelsane, specialised in the production of cast-iron and alloys for moulds, announced 43% growth in turnover to US$ 10 million in 1995. Exports counted for 30% of turnover with new South American markets and consolidated presence in Europe. The Italian company has added the variable structure vermicular cast-iron to its catalogue of alloys. Investments have been made by setting up new internal modelling and polishing departments. In addition, the company purchased a new computerised system of mixing oxygen and natural gas in rotating furnaces, thus improving the quality of final products. In 1996, Fonderie Valdelsane, together with the biggest international glass industry groups, will take steps for official approval of its production standards, and plans to strengthen existing client relations. Moreover, in June of this year, the company will undergo final examination to obtain ISO 9002 certification, after having worked towards this achievement for two and a half years. The company states that all necessary quality-control procedures have already been in place for a number of months, including Statistical Process Control (SPC). Fonderie Valdelsane employs a total of 65, including outside contractors. The company plans to participate at Glastec “96 in Dsseldorf.
