Nearly 100 miners were stranded underground for several hours at an FMC soda ash mine after a power failure on 11 January 2007. The mine, located about 25 miles outside of Green River in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, lost power at about 2 pm, disabling elevators and air circulation devices. Officials were able to bring 25 miners at a time to the surface using a generator-powered lift. At no point were the miners in danger, according to police dispatchers.
