Fensterbau Frontale sets the stage for 2016

From 16 to 19 March 2016, the “who’s who” of the window, door and facade sector will gain a unique overview of the market in 11 halls at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg.

Window and facade manufacturers, carpenters, architects and retailers visit the fair to find out about the latest profile systems, hardware, structural elements, the use of glass in architecture, fixing technology, security technology, machines and equipment and much more.
For the first time, an app will make it easier to plan your trade fair visit, by bookmarking exhibitors, products and events, while a dynamic floor plan helps you navigate your way round the exhibition. Download the app at www.frontale.de/app.
Apart from the exhibition as such, FENSTERBAU FRONTALE also offers an exciting supporting programme. The trade fair will be officially opened by Günther Hoffmann, Head of the Department for the Construction Industry and Federal Buildings at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Reactor Safety. A popular and long-established element of the programme is the special show by window technology testing institute ift Rosenheim, the GFF (Glass, Window and Facade Association) and NürnbergMesse, which will take place this year with the theme “Success through Safety, Quality and Security”.
A new feature of the programme is the “Golden Window” award. Since 2012, Russian specialist publisher OKNA Media has been awarding this prize to the 20 leading window manufacturing companies in Russia for excellence in customer advisory services. In the meantime it has become one of the most sought-after accolades in the country. The aim of the “Golden Window” is to create healthy competition to stress the high importance of the customer advice component in the sales chain.
Another new addition is India Day, where interested trade visitors and exhibitors can learn more about the opportunities offered by the Indian window and door market.
Special programme for architects and building designers
As at previous events, the 8th Architecture-Window-Facade Forum on the morning of the second day of the fair offers an exceptional programme of information and presentations exclusively for architects. This year the forum on the theme “Striving for Simplicity in Architecture and Technology” will be devoted to current trends in architecture and technology. High-calibre speakers will explore the themes of the trade fair in an overarching context.
The magazines AIT and xia Intelligente Architektur will once again be presenting their Innovation Award for Architecture + Window Door Facade to exhibitors at FENSTERBAU FRONTALE. The prize-winners will be selected by a panel of renowned architects, interior designers and engineers. The jury tours the fair to visit the competing exhibitors at their stands to allow them to explain the most innovative aspects of their products. The submissions are also presented as a poster exhibition in NCC Ost, Stand NCCO-109.
The red Architects’ Area logo will lead visitors to the relevant exhibitors in the halls. At specially designated stands they can obtain special information and expert answers to their specific queries about windows, doors and facades. The same logo is also found in the trade fair guide, catalogue and online exhibitor and product database at:
www.frontale.de/en/ausstellerprodukte
In addition, the BauLust Initiative for Architecture and the Public will conduct architectural tours in Nuremberg for interested trade visitors.
Guided tour 1: “Sebalder Steppe” in the Nuremberg old town district
The development of this area is a typical example of the early reconstruction in the 1950s. How do the structural modifications of recent years affect the look and structure of the area in a positive and negative way?
Guided tour 2: Nürnberg – Langwasser
This district, which was originally a satellite town for around 35,000 people, is regarded in Nuremberg and beyond as an example of the successful realisation of a planned urban community. It was developed based on the results of an architectural competition.
“Taste of Windays” showcases innovations from Switzerland
Another established feature of the FENSTERBAU FRONTALE programme are the technical presentations on “Innovations from Switzerland” organised by the Bern University of Applied Sciences as part of the event series “Taste of Windays” in conjunction with the Swiss industry associations SZFF and FFF. In 2016 the focus topics are “Static Dimensioning of Large-Format Window Sashes made of Timber”, “Insulation Glass using Glazing Blocks – Better Windows in Seconds” and “Mechatronical Door Closing Systems – Development for Diffusion-Resistant Building Covers”.
The last day of the fair is all about the next generation of skilled workers in the glass, window and facade sector. The Glass, Window and Facade Association of Baden-Württemberg presents the “MeisterAward” (master craftsman award) to the best young talent of the last two years.
It recognises excellent performance in their theoretical and practical examinations when completing their advanced training to qualify as master glaziers at the Technical College for Glass, Window and Facade Construction in Karlsruhe.
The award consists of various prizes to a total value of almost €10,000. Another prize is awarded to the nationwide winner of the Young Craftspeople competition in window and glass facade construction, i.e. the best apprentice from the class of 2015.
“Norimbergalvolo”: Direct flight to the trade fair from Northern Italy
On the first day of the fair, exhibitors at FENSTERBAU FRONTALE can take advantage of a special opportunity to make contact with customers, partners and media representatives from Italy. NürnbergMesse Italia is organising a direct return flight from Bergamo to Nuremberg on Wednesday 16 March 2016, to give visitors from Northern Italy the chance to pack a visit to FENSTERBAU FRONTALE into just one day. There are also places available for exhibitors who would like to extend an invitation to business partners.
