Paul Pearcy, Federation Manager at British Glass, met with Sarah Jones, Minister of State at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and the Department for Business and Trade, as part of an Energy Intensive Users Group (EIUG) round-table with other Energy Intensive Industries (EIIs), to discuss energy and carbon policies.
The meeting was constructive, highlighting key policy areas that need reform in order to support a competitive UK glass industry while advancing decarbonisation.
Topics covered included the UK Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), the Review of Electricity Market Arrangements (REMA), industrial electrification and the broader industrial strategy.
