The auto glassmaker Elvex based in Elva, southeastern Estonia, has opened a new tempered door glass factory. Elvex“s new facility in which its parent company, the French Saint-Gobain, invested about EKr 70 million is one of the largest investments in southeastern Estonia this year. The factory will create more than 30 new jobs. The new facility will produce more than 1,000 models of door glasses. The firm exports almost all of its output. Elvex“s turnover was EKr 94 million and profit, EKr 17 million in 1999. The company said it hopes to double turnover in the next few years with the help of the new factory.
