Ecovidrio, the non-profit organization which manages container glass waste in Spain, and the Private Foundation Trinijove de Catalunya have signed a collaboration agreement to improve the management of glass packaging waste in the food service, hotel, port and airport sectors. The accord, signed by the Secretary of the Foundation, Ignacio Carlos Parody Nez, and the Director General of Ecovidrio, Javier Puig de la Bellacasa Alberola, came into effect on 30 March 2006 and is valid for a year, after which it may be extended. The accord includes lines of action that contribute to raising environmental awareness, improving the management of glass waste, and creating employment for handicapped and socially marginalised persons. To achieve these goals, Ecovidrio will develop information campaigns including publications, leaflets, posters, and the promotion of collection points (Ecopunts) in hotels and other locations where waste is generated. For its part, Trinijove will carry out and supervise new forms of waste collection management in the hotel, restaurant, port and airport sectors. Furthermore, within the framework of the agreement, Trinijove will establish contacts with other social bodies involved in waste management around Spain to develop glass collection and environmental awareness raising activities. The Trinijove Foundation became active in the area of training and the work-life integration of people with special needs in 1985.
