Jan Kratina, the General Director of the Czech Republic glassmaker Crystalex, said the firm is happy with the recent cabinet decision to sell a majority stake in the company to Porcela Plus. He said that after the entry of a new shareholder and a general meeting, Crystalex can develop output and investment plans. Under his leadership, the company decided on several fundamental steps. It left the frame of Skloexport a.s., which assured a place abroad for most of its production and last year actually established its own export company, Bohemia Crystalex Trading (BCT) with a base in Liberec. By the end of last year, BCT had exported goods for Kc 450 million. Skloexport, however, did not obtain a majority in Crystalex. “Finishing privatisation had a positive effect on traders. Now we have orders for materials of Kc 1 billion, but our whole-year plan amounts to Kc 1.34 billion,” the General Director of BCT, Vladimir Vomacka, said. Crystalex also managed to finish restructuring its trading activities on the domestic and Slovak markets last year. For this territory, it established Ceskomoravske Sklo-Crystalex based in Cvikov. This company took over responsibility of approximately one fourth of total output.
