Acting on instructions from Cristaleras de Chile, the Bank of New York terminated the firm“s American Depositary Shares (ADS) program on 21 June 2005. As a result, the New York Stock Exchange ceased trading of Cristaleras de Chile shares. When allowed to do so by the SEC, the Chilean firm intends to end the registration of its American Depositary Shares with the SEC and of the common shares that these represent. Behind the move is the significant fall in the number of trades compared to the total number of shares in recent years, and the low number of US shareholders (currently fewer than 300) who have ADS and common shares. Cristaleras de Chile shares will continue to trade on the Santiago Exchange.
