Throughout 2019, The Corning Museum of Glass will present various programming dedicated to contemporary glass, including dynamic exhibitions, installations, residencies, and public programs celebrating innovations in the medium and the artists and designers who are pushing those boundaries.
Highlights of the museums 2019 contemporary glass initiatives include the exhibition ‘New Glass Now’, a landmark survey showcasing the breadth and depth of contemporary glassmaking worldwide.
New Glass Now, will be starting in May 2019 and running through to January next year. This is the Museum’s first survey of contemporary glass in 40 years, featuring 100 artists from around the globe whose works range from large-scale installations and delicate miniatures to video and experiments in glass chemistry. Mark Peiser, who has been awarded the Museum’s sixth annual Specialty Glass Residency, jointly run by the museum and Corning Inc., will explore the adaptation of Specialty glass materials for the creation of new work. There will be many public programs, including glassmaking demonstrations by guest artists, represented in New Glass Now.
