The Corning Museum of Glass has announced two immediate opportunities for artists working in glass available through the institution. The Museum“s New Glass Review, the only annual journal dedicated to documenting international art, craft, and design in glass, is accepting entries for its 27th edition. Artists must submit a total of three slides illustrating one work or design series in glass per slide. Each image should be clearly labeled with identification number and title. All slides must be suitable for reproduction and will become the property of The Corning Museum of Glass. A jury of artists, designers, educators, museum directors, curators, and critics will select 100 slides from those submitted which will become the core of New Glass Review, published every spring by The Corning Museum of Glass. New Glass Review is intended to keep its audience, a wide array of art enthusiasts, informed about the recent developments in the field. The application deadline for entries to the journal is 15 October 2005. All entries must be accompanied by a completed application and a USD 15.00 entry fee. The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass is now accepting proposals for its 2006 artist-in-residence program. The program is open to any artist who wants to pursue further work in glass. Interested artists must send 10 slides of their work, two letters of recommendation, a written proposal detailing what the artist would like to do during their month-long residency, the best month to participate, and a resum to: Residency Programs, The Studio of The Corning Museum of Glass, One Museum Way, Corning, NY 14830-2253. Those who are invited to participate in these month-long programs will have access to the Museum“s Rakow Research Library, the collection of The Corning Museum of Glass, and The Studio facilities.
