23 April 1998: Consumers Glass, the Canadian glass container manufacturing unit of Consumers Packaging Inc., has been awarded a contract to supply all the glass beer bottles used by Molson Breweries, Canada“s leading brewer, for the next ten years. Based on current sales to Molson, the contract could be worth C$ 700 million over the ten-year term. “This agreement comes out of a strong working partnership between Molson and Consumers,” said John J. Ghaznavi, chairman and chief executive officer of Consumers Packaging. “It also reflects both companies“ commitment to quality and innovation.” The contract calls for investments by Consumers in technology, manufacturing processes and equipment over the next ten years to assure that bottles supplied to Molson will remain quality leaders. Molson Breweries, which has been brewing since 1786, is Canada“s leading brewer with seven breweries across the country. A partnership of The Molson Companies Limited and Foster“s Brewing Group Limited, Molson Breweries employs 4,100 Canadians and offers more than 40 brands of beer. Consumers Glass is the only ISO 9001 certified glass container company in North America.
