Consol Shop: proud sponsor of 2nd South Africa Preserve Championships

The Consol Shop—an Ardagh Glass Packaging Company—is proud to announce its headline sponsorship of the second SA Preserve Championships, a competition dedicated to celebrating the very best in preserved products. For the Consol Shop, this partnership is a natural fit: preserving is at the heart of everything Ardagh Glass Packaging – Africa believes in, and there is no purer or more trusted way to preserve than in glass.

The Preserve Championships exists to honour top-quality preserved products while shining a light on preservation’s vital role in reducing food waste. It champions sustainability, supports entrepreneurial growth and raises industry standards, all while inspiring the next generation of food entrepreneurs to pick up an apron and a jar and get preserving.

The Consol Shop is proud to support the SA Preserve Championships, encouraging all customers, from first-time home preservers to established producers, to enter and make their mark. The championship is the perfect stage to celebrate the craft of preserving, bringing the time-honoured traditions of Gogo’s kitchen magic back to life.

The Consol Shop has built its reputation on a simple belief: purity you can taste, transparency you can trust and nothing to hide. Glass is honest: it protects without altering, preserves without compromising and lets the quality of every product speak for itself. That commitment to integrity is exactly what the SA Preserve Championships stands for.

Breyton Milford, General Manager of Agri-Expo and owner of the SA Preserve Championships said, “Having The Consol Shop on board as Gold sponsor is a real milestone for us. We are heading into our second year with more momentum than ever, and this partnership gives the championship the platform it deserves. It is an exciting time for preservation in South Africa, and we are just getting started.”

The SA Preserve Championships is judged by an expert panel of 50 independent judges, including renowned food experts, chefs, experienced food writers, retail and wholesale specialists, hospitality professionals, chef students and selected producers. The panel is led by Chief Judge Susina Jooste, a respected food expert and training specialist. All entries are adjudicated over a single day through a rigorous blind tasting process conducted under strict procedures, followed by an independent audit to ensure complete integrity and transparency in the results.

The overall championship winner will take home a full pallet of Consol Shop jars, the very jar they used to preserve in. It is a fitting reward for a worthy champion, and a reminder that great preserving starts with the right glass jar.

Entries are now open and will close on Friday 29 May 2026.
