Industrial action is planned by Dutch employees of French glass packaging company BSN Glasspack for 16 June 2004, it was reported on 11 June 2004. About 100 of the 150 Glasspack employees from the three Dutch units are planning to go to the Glasspack site in Schiedam, western Netherlands, to protest against changes to the pension regulations proposed by Glasspack. The proposed changes led to the recent failure of negotiations between trade unions and the employer on a new collective labour agreement (CAO). The Glasspack employees in Schiedam carried out industrial action in protest at the new CAO on 3 June 2004. Under the proposals, employees would have to work a year longer, until 63 years, before qualifying for a pension. Glasspack also proposed a reduction of pension payments and a 3% increase in employee pension contributions. BSN Glasspack has 900 employees in the Netherlands.
