28 January 1999: Sales of the joint-stock company Bohemia Crystalex Trading (BCT), the exclusive exporter of the three largest Czech household glass producers (Crystalex, Sklarny Kavalier and Sklo Bohemia Svetla nad Sazavou), reached Kcs 3.2 billion last year, said BCT financial director Jiri Klima. Exports thus increased by 100%. According to Klima, BCT now exports Czech glass to 70 countries. The biggest buyers are the US, Germany, Japan, Great Britain and Spain. “We expect a further growth in sales next year. We could close in on sales of Kcs 4 billion,” Klima predicted. BCT was established in 1996 as the specialized exporting company for Crystalex. In 1996 the company exported Kcs 400 million worth of glass. BCT became the majority owner and exporters of Sklo Bohemia Svetla nad Sazavou and Sklarny Kavalier in 1997.
