Ardagh Group works hard to continuously increase the amount of cullet in its glass production process, as part of its drive for sustainability. Currently the company uses up to 90 percent of cullet during the melting process.
A cullet incorporation strategy is in place to manage the cullet usage. Internal cullet targets, supplier qualification and investment are all now in place as part of the cullet value chain of the company.
By increasing use of cullet, Ardagh thereby decreases its cost of energy and is able to save approximately 3 percent of energy per tonne of glass produced and 5 percent CO2 emission reduction per tonne of glass produced. Our team in North America has committed to a 10 percent increase in its use of cullet content by 2025.
Increasing the amount of cullet we use in our glass production process connects to our sustainability pillar concerning the environment.
